Skydive Plettenberg Bay

Experience the thrill of human flight and live life to its fullest. You will experience the most scenic drop zone in the world. After a briefing enjoy a 20 min scenic plane ride over the stunning Plettenberg Bay Coastline. Then the adrenaline starts as you exit the plane from 10 000ft freefall for 35 second and then slowly drift back to earth while enjoying the amazing beauty of the garden route.

Paintball

This game is great for groups who would like to do some team sports. Always a great way to get your buddy back for keeping you awake the night before. The game is always followed by a Braai and a few drinks with lots of laughter about the outcome of the day’s happenings. Pain has never been this much fun.

Bungy Jump

Renowned as the Rolls Royce of Bungy jumps, Bloukrans offers the world’s highest commercial jump off the highest bridge in Africa, 216m with a 5 second free fall. Surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Tsitsikamma Forest, this adrenalin packed experience will ensure a 100% rush that you will never forget.

Surf lessons

Plettenberg Bay is one of the best places to learn how to surf. Our waves are not too big and are perfect for beginners.

Courses are available for beginners, intermediate and experienced wave riders. Instruction includes professional instructors, safety instructions, wetsuits & surfboards provided during classes.

BOAT BASED WHALE WATCHING

How often can you say I was so close to these amazing animals I could almost touch them? It is possible with this activity and not only is it allot of fun but also very informative. The trip is two hours long and not only will you see the amazing giants. Often you will get to see thousands of dolphins, seals and ocean birds. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPERIENCE THE OCEAN AND ALL IT’S BEAUTY ALONG THE GARDEN ROUTE.

Canoeing

Great activity for lovebirds who like to get away for the day. After a day on the Keurbooms River with your loved one you will be sure of getting some, with the amazing natural beauty of the reserve. Take a picnic basket and relax on one of the sand banks situated along the river.

Diving

Discover the underwater world in Plettenberg Bay, Pro Divers offers PADI courses for 1 to 4 days this is a fantastic opportunity to dive and explore the world below the waves. Small groups ensure personal attention. The highest safety standards, impeccable safety record, highly qualified and experienced instructors and dive masters. All regulators are fitted with alternate air sources and depth gauges. Rental equipment is well maintained, in excellent condition and not older than 1 year.

If you are not in the mood to dive but want to get a taste of what’s under the waves, join the snorkel trail. This trail can be done with or without a guide.

Sea Kayaking

Sea kayaking is for those who like to combine a marine encounter with activity. Both experienced and inexperienced kayakers can go on the trip. Dolphins, seals and even Hammerhead sharks are often seen during the year while whales are seen in season from June to November.

Horse riding

Enjoy a horse safari through one of the largest game reserves in the Western Cape.

Wild life

Tenikwa Wildlife awareness centre at Plettenberg Bay offers a unique wildcat experience. Visitors are taken on a quit tour to meet captive bred furry felines, living in a semi-natural environment. Step into the world of the charismatic Cheetah. Enjoy a cat and mouse game with South Africa’s seldom seen lesser indigenous cats, and meet the rare Anthill Tiger. Learn about their struggle for survival in the wild.

Birds of Eden

Birds of Eden is the world’s largest free flight bird sanctuary, the unique 2 hectare dome spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. This sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk behind waterfall. Another amazing feature is its amphitheatre, which has the ability to seat over 200 visitors. The sanctuary’s dome incorporates the ability to synthesise thunder and create short spells of rain from an irrigation system in the dome structure, roofed viewpoints within the gorge have been erected for use during these brief rain storms.

Monkeyland

Monkeyland is a unique primate sanctuary. It is the home of many varied species of monkeys from several continents which were captive bred prior to their release at Monkeyland. Situated 16km east of Plettenberg Bay, they offer visitors guided safaris. This is the world’s only multi specie, free roaming primate sanctuary.

Elephant Sanctuary

The Elephant Sanctuary offers guests an encounter with elephants as never before. Experienced guides will impart fascinating information that will deepen your understanding of elephants and change you forever.

Interact, touch, feed and walk trunk-in-hand with their magnificent elephants on the one hour program. You can also ride these amazing animals.

Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary

Offers hourly guided tours, consisting of an indigenous Snake Pitt, a Boom slang exhibit, a Monitor Lizard enclosure, a dome housing South African and exotic snakes and a large python room.

Porcupine Ceramics studio

creates a unique range of Afro/Eurocentric Raku pit fired ceramics and a range of stone ware hand crafted wash basins. Visit their show room and go on a tour through the factory to see how these magnificent artworks are made.

TOWNSHIP TOUR

Ocean Blue Adventures and the Qolweni Community Development Trust offer guests a unique experience through the heart of the Qolweni Community settlement surrounded by breathtaking views of the Tsitsikamma Mountains.

CULTURAL TOWNSHIP TOUR

Experience an African way of life by exploring the everyday life of a real African; with a guided tour you are able to explore interesting facts about the Xhosa history and Tribal culture. Meet the local children at the crèche and be entertained by their beautiful voices in song, See where the locals buy their everyday essentials while understanding the life of the local rastars as you tour their homes.

On request you can be entertained by the Umthombo Theatre Group performing traditional dances and listening to the exceptional choir singing their favourite songs.

Mountain Biking

Harkerville Cycle Route is the most popular. Permits and maps for this trail are available at the “Garden of Eden” which is situated 10km from Starling on the N2 to Knysna. The trails range from easy to difficult. Four distinct routes have been laid out through indigenous forest, plantation and coastal fynbos and colour-coded: Yellow, Blue, Green and Red giving a choice of ride distances.

Hiking

Robberg Peninsula is by far the most popular walk, it is an excellent view site for dolphins, whales and sharks. Seals are always seen from the trail. The peninsula is covered with coastal dune Fynbos. There are three circular walks of various lengths. 2,2km = 45 min, 5,6km = 2 hours and 9,2km = 4 ½ hours. Extensive information about Robberg’s geology, archaeology and existing marine life can be found along the trail. This trail may be done without a guide. The other hiking trails in our area are Kranshoek Coastal walk, Milkwood scenic trail and Wittedrift Nature trails.

Golf

Plettenberg Bay is renowned for its beautiful golf courses, Plettenberg Bay Country Club – 18 holes, Rietvlei Mashie Course – 9 holes, Goose Valley – 18 holes.

Distilleries

Nyati – Traditional Mampoer & Witblits distillery in Wittedrift is a unique experience. The owner Jack Mudd has won awards at an annual agricultural show near Pretoria for his superior Mampoer and Witblits.

Deep sea fishing

With the deep sea fishing trip you launch off Central beach. This trip is 25 minutes out to sea to reach the fishing grounds, during which time you may have the opportunity of viewing marine animals in their natural habitat.

During summer warm water fish are caught such as Cape Salmon and Cob. Winter fish such as Hake, Red Roman among others. Sharks can be caught all year round.

Fishing & Angling

The rock angling sites include Nature’s Valley, Keurbooms, Lookout rocks, Beacon Island and Robberg beach. Rock anglers can expect to catch Galjoen, Elf, Roman or Steenbras. Deep sea anglers may expect Tuna, Leervis, Hake and Calamari (seasonal).

Polo

Plettenberg Bay has become well-known as the “polo mecca” of South Africa. You may view exciting polo tournaments played at Bitou House and Kurland during Easter, December and January.

Scenic drives & day trips

Kranshoek picnic sites overlook cliffs and sea. Garden of Eden picnic sites have circular walks and big tree. Prince Alfred Pass has stunning mountain views along the historical pass. Bloukraans pass is a unique pass amid indigenous forests to Nature’s Valley. Plettenberg Bay arts & crafts route/historical route.

  • The tour starts with a scenic drive through George and over the
    Outeniqua Mountains past Oudtshoorn to the Cango Caves, one of the
    world’s great natural wonders sculptured by nature through the
    ages – a series of dripstone caverns that open into vast halls of
    towering stalagmite formations.
  • This is followed by a fascinating visit to an ostrich farm, where
    you can stand on an egg and even ride an ostrich!
  • After a delicious lunch at award-winning Jemima’s Restaurant in
    Oudtshoorn, it’s on to Cango Wildlife Ranch, a breeding facility
    for endangered species – here you can touch a cheetah, enjoy the
    closeness of a tiger cub or wrap yourself in a python!

  • Join us for an exhilarating scenic helicopter ride to the
    spectacular Robberg Peninsula, a nature reserve and national
    monument just 8 kms south of Plettenberg Bay.

    close to these gentle giants who live in a controlled, free range
    environment.

  • The tour continues with the choice of a ferry trip to the
    world-famous Featherbed Nature Reserve, a South African Heritage

TSITSIKAMMA FULL DAY TOUR

  • Your Tsitsikamma adventure starts with a visit to the Big Tree, a
    yellowwood giant just 10 minutes’ walk from the main road in the
    spectacularly beautiful indigenous forest. The tree is ±800 years
    old, 36.6 metres high with a circumference of almost 9 metres.
  • The Tsitsikamma area is known for its adrenalin activities, and
    your next adventure is a canopy tour, in which you will traverse
    from one platform to another along a steel cable suspended 30
    metres above the forest floor between giant yellowwood trees!
  • While your adrenalin is still pumping we’ll take you for an
    exciting boat trip on Storms River into the Gorge, enjoy a walk
    through the forest to the suspension bridge followed by lunch at
    the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve
  • After lunch depart for a scenic drive, descending the Groot River
    Pass to Nature’s Valley.
  • We end the tour on a high note with a visit to the area’s only
    wine estate, Bramon – producers of the country’s first and only
    Sauvignon Blanc cap classique.

  • Our tour for lovers of wild animals starts with a visit to the
    Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre at Plettenberg Bay for a truly
    unique wildcat experience. Here you will meet South Africa’s
    lesser indigenous cats, branded The Furry Five – captive-bred
    black-footed cats, African wild cats, Caracal, Serval and cheetah
    - living in a semi-natural environment.
  • Next stop is Monkeyland; the world’s first free roaming
    multi-species primate sanctuary, and Birds of Eden, the largest
    free flight bird aviary in the world.
  • Lunch at Bramon Wine Estate will consist of delicious mezze
    platters, cheese, patés, tapas, fresh home-made bread and a glass
